Air Purifiers: The Gift Your Loved One Didn’t Know They Wanted
When I think of gifts for family and loved ones, I think of wanting to give something they want but probably wouldn’t get for themselves. While air purifiers aren’t sexy or fun, they are an incredible investment in health for those with any pulmonary issues.
Anyone with asthma can benefit from an air purifier in the home as it takes some of the toxic burden off the lungs and can remove triggers such as dust and animal dander from the air. Below are air purifiers I have tested and used myself and highly recommend:
Our whole family has at least one lung health factor that makes breathing unhealthy things in the air a challenge for us. My husband and I have multiple. We’ve had this air purifier for our bedroom and purchased another one for another bedroom in 2019. We’ve had since then and it has been easy to keep clean.

We have an Air Doctor system in our living room and that one is an investment. It is far more expensive but very easy to clean. It really does the job as it has worked for years as the smoke from forest fires raged around in the air. It’s helped when neighbors have enjoyed a night of smoking pot and the smell drifts into our areas. It’s been fabulous for the high particulate days that really negatively affect my husband and I. It’s been with us through the whole Covid mess too. 
We purchased this air purifier for when we travel. I believe it was a few months after COVID had put us all in lockdown and we decided that since my husband had to travel for work as a necessary worker in several states, our family would go with him to get out of the house. In our preparation, we got this and would go through a protocol of going into each hotel room spraying with alcohol and then turning this purifier on blast for an hour while we left to get gas, food, supplies, etc to give it time to clean the air. We didn’t get sick and we breathed really well!
When COVID was in its second year and we were traveling by car, sometimes we’d hit areas that were heavy with smoke. Sometimes you go places and a strong smell of pot/marijuana would kick off an asthma attack or just plain can’t breathe well. We used this car purifier for a while. On lower settings it is so quiet you forget about it. On higher settings, it really helps inside the car and for the price, was well worth it. My biggest advice is that if you have kids or have reason to think it might drop or get manhandled, you might want to look for something else. We had it for a while, but eventually, it dropped and it never recovered with something loose inside.
We have a couple of purifiers we use in other rooms in the house, like our office or bedrooms. We have pets and a lot of dust thanks to the desert, so we need good purification.
